Dr. Rakesh M. Suri, MD, DPhil, is a Strategic Advisor to the CEO and Professor of Surgery at Jefferson University Health System, and Jefferson Health Insurance Plan. He is a thought leader on innovative models of healthcare delivery, international enterprise growth and organizational transformation in pursuit of value.
Dr.
Suri
served
as
the
first
President
of
International
Operations
at
the
Cleveland
Clinic
 leading
the
international
strategy
and
global
business
development
efforts
positioning
the
 organization
as
One
Cleveland
Clinic
in
the
United
States
and
abroad.

From
2017-2021,
Dr.
Suri
led
Cleveland
Clinic
Abu
Dhabi
as
President
and
Chief
Executive
 Officer
and
served
as
Executive
Team
member
of
the
Cleveland
Clinic
Enterprise.
He
oversaw
 the
hospital's
strategy
and
effective
operations
as
the
first-ever
U.S.
multispecialty
hospital
to
 be
replicated
outside
of
North
America
with
more
than
6,000
caregivers
from
85+
countries
 in
partnership
with
stakeholder
Mubadala,
one
of
the
world's
largest
sovereign
wealth
funds.
 Under
his
leadership
the
hospital
grew
to
nearly
500
beds;
launched
the
UAE's
first
multi- organ
transplantation
and
living-related
organ
donation
programs;
supported
healthcare
 transformation
in
Abu
Dhabi,
the
UAE
and
the
region
through
education,
research,
 innovation,
and
construction
of
a
state-of-the-
art
Oncology
tower.
He
led
the
team
towards
 financial
sustainability,
improving
revenue
and
decreasing
costs
while
delivering
outcomes
 that
led
to
the
hospital
being
ranked
amongst
Newsweek
top
150
hospitals
globally.

As
a
practicing
cardiovascular
surgeon,
Dr.
Suri
focuses
on
pre-emptive
care
of
patients
with
 asymptomatic
mitral
valve
prolapse,
including
robotic
and
minimally
invasive
mitral
valve
 repair
and
transcatheter
valve
therapies.
He
has
completed
more
than
7,000
surgical
 procedures
in
his
career.

Dr.
Suri
was
a
consultant
in
the
Division
of
Cardiovascular
Surgery,
Professor
of
Surgery
and
 Chair
of
the
Enterprise
Robotic
Practice
at
Mayo
Clinic.
His
academic
pursuits
include
 contributions
to
more
than
340
peer-reviewed
journal
articles
and
book
chapters,
more
than
 15
patents
and
several
FDA
multicenter
trials.
He
was
the
Director
of
the
Cardiovascular
 Fellowship
Program
at
Mayo
Clinic
and
past
President
of
the
Heart
Valve
Society.

He
is
Medical
Advisory
Board
Member
and
past
President/Chief
Medical
Officer
of
Fountain
 Life,
where
he
led
expansion
of
operations,
including
the
establishment
of
partnerships
with
 payers,
community
developers,
corporate
entities
and
wellness-oriented
businesses.

Dr.
Suri
earned
his
undergraduate
degree
at
Queen's
University
in
Kingston,
Ontario,
Canada,
 medical
degree
with
honors
f rom
the
University
of
Toronto
and
a
doctorate
at
Magdalen
 College,
Oxford,
UK,
as
a
Rhodes
Scholar.
He
completed
thoracic
surgical
residency
at
Mayo
 Clinic
College
of
Medicine
and
is
board-certified
in
both
General
Surgery
and
Cardiothoracic
 Surgery.
